In a world swamped by AI, how do we keep our feet on the ground?
AI is biased – maybe you have heard this before, but what exactly are AI biases? Where do they come from? How were they constructed? What is the extent of their harms?
This Critical AI literacy workshop series is for bachelor students and other curious life-long learners who wants to scratch below the surface of the general claim of AI biases as mere technical flaws. Through 3 stages of Generative AI lifecycle: data, models, and human interpretation, we have built 3 hands-on, interactive workshops to help you understand the technology that are increasingly permeating our daily lives.
By the end of this series, you will have the concrete tools and guidelines to critically evaluate Generative AI outputs and navigate the ethical landscape of automated systems.
If you are ready to move from a passive user of AI to an informed critic, sign up and earn your certificate!
The journey of AI bias begins long before an algorithm runs, it starts with the data. What gets counted, collected, and labeled shapes the world an AI “sees.”
In this hands-on workshop, we’ll uncover how the act of “ordering” data encodes societal prejudices and power structures, setting the stage for downstream harm. Join us in discovering why bias in data is a philosophical and political issue, not just a statistical one.
