In a world swamped by AI, how do we keep our feet on the ground?
AI is biased – maybe you have heard this before, but what exactly are AI biases? Where do they come from? How were they constructed? What is the extent of their harms?
This Critical AI literacy workshop series is for bachelor students and other curious life-long learners who wants to scratch below the surface of the general claim of AI biases as mere technical flaws. Through 3 stages of Generative AI lifecycle: data, models, and human interpretation, we have built 3 hands-on, interactive workshops to help you understand the technology that are increasingly permeating our daily lives.
By the end of this series, you will have the concrete tools and guidelines to critically evaluate Generative AI outputs and navigate the ethical landscape of automated systems.
If you are ready to move from a passive user of AI to an informed critic, sign up and earn your certificate!
The algorithm is often seen as a neutral “black box” making objective decisions. But is it? This workshop pulls back the curtain on the model itself.
Together, we’ll explore how optimization goals and the very architecture of AI models can amplify, distort, and even create new forms of bias. Using accessible simulations, we’ll learn to question the alleged objectivity of automated decisions and understand the trust we place in them.
