We help [FASoS staff & external partners] explore, experiment, and innovate their digital offerings. Together, we work to build confidence and technological competence. Working side-by-side, The Plant offers the space and support necessary to take risks, learn new skills, share expertise, and dream big. We offer consulting services on projects, collaborative design sessions, and interdisciplinary expertise in merging technology with the humanities and social sciences.
Curious about a new-to-you technique? Want some help building your confidence in using a new technology? Excited to upskill in a specific software, concept, design method, or approach so that you can learn to do-it-yourself?
Are you brave enough to creatively adapt existing software or programs to your project? Do you want to understand how the technology that you’re using actually works, so that you can make more informed decisions about the processes you choose to use?
If these questions feel like they resonate, then we want to get to know you! Drop by The Plant or send us an email with a question, idea for collaboration, or whatever else is on your mind!
Digital storytelling integrates technology with narrative techniques to create engaging and multimodal stories to offer new ways of developing, sharing, and experiencing knowledge.
Using computational methods to explore complex phenomena, identify patterns, and visualize data while considering ethical and legal issues when working with data, including privacy, transparency, and bias.
By engaging directly with tools and devices, you develop not only practical skills but also a deeper comprehension of how technology operates and interacts with the world around us.
Everyone who is willing to try things themselves! Whether that’s learning a new digital program, exploring opportunities to integrate a new technology in your research, or innovating on your current work through computational methods, design thinking, co-design, or creative methods of dissemination, we’re here for you.
We’re especially looking to serve as a collaborative brain for those aiming to think through digital innovation, such as:
