This event hosted by The Plant explores solarpunk as a bold refusal of dystopia and climate despair. Framing our social and political systems as constructed, and therefore changeable, it invites participants to imagine and co-create hopeful, sustainable futures built on collective agency and structural transformation.

Refusal can be a radical act and an important part of social movements. It can also be a mode of engagement with the world around us, a way of practicing “decolonial ways of knowing,” and is an important part of being in community and building social movements. 

Solarpunk as in the refusal of dystopia, of climate despair, and a refusal of dominant structures and narratives by making us re-examine our world in a way that forefronts the constructed nature of the societal and political decisions that have built our current world.
