The first 2026 UM-XR Community Event brought together colleagues from across Maastricht University to share the latest developments, projects, and ambitions in Extended Reality (XR). The UM-XR network was created to connect faculties and external partners, prevent duplication of efforts, and spark new collaborations across disciplines. By strengthening this community, we also aim to build a united voice in strategic and budget discussions, especially in times when attention is increasingly focused on AI.

With continued support from members, through hosting and chairing meetings, sharing expertise and following up on ideas, we look forward to further growing and strengthening the XR community at UM.
